New York City With over 700,000 Indo Americans, the New York City Metropolitan Area contains the largest metropolitan Asian Indian population in the Western Hemisphere. The majority (62 percent) of Indian New Yorkers lived in Queens. The remainder lived mostly in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The largest concentration of the Indian population in the city is in eastern Queens in the neighborhoods of Jackson Heights, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill, Jamaica and Bellerose.Indians American are very diverse in New York and professionals as well self employed and take great pride in their cultural heritage and values.

Nearly 5% of New Jersey’s population is South Asian, more than any other state in the nation. Over 1 million Asians live in New Jersey, with Indian Americans making up the largest ethnic group. South Asians have put down roots all over the state but are especially concentrated in Middlesex County in places like Edison, Plainsboro, and South Brunswick where South Asians make up around 40% of the population living in those areas. The highest population for Indians living in NJ is in Iselin, Plainsboro Center, Dayton, Franklin Park, Carteret, Somerset etc.

Edison had a population of little over 100,000 of which nearly 20 percent count themselves as Indian Americans. This is one of the largest concentration of South Asians in any part of the US. This makes Edison one of the country’s main districts of Asian American diversity. Edison is called little India with diversified Indian shops mostly food outlets and many jewelry shops. Edison is one of the sweet spots for Indian living in NJ and neighboring States who visit the Edison for their needs for Indian food, Jewelery and other merchandise.
